Subgroups

Sub groups are created on the Sub Groups page. A subgroup refers to a specific group that is organized under another primary group, resulting in a hierarchical structure. This grouping hierarchy holds significance in terms of how transactions are organized and reported.

To access the Sub Groups page, click Configuration > Periods Management > Sub Groups.

The left-side panel contains a list of all existing companies with their group percentages and current consolidation method. The right-side panel is where you define the parameters of a new Sub group.

Create a subgroup

Subgroups are typically created to organize and group similar entities or business units within a larger organization. Subgroups can be formed based on various criteria such as geographical location, product lines, or business functions to facilitate better management and analysis of financial data.

To create a sub group:

  1. From the Company drop-down list above the left-side panel, select a company from all existing companies in the consolidation scope. This will be the parent company of the subgroup .

  2. Go through the list of the companies displayed on the left-side panel and select all the companies that are not automatically included in the subgroup calculation.

Note:  You can also update the Consolidation method of the companies you select, if necessary.

  3. Click Calculate to update the indirect percentages and the consolidation method of the companies linked to the new parent company.

  4. On the right-side panel, select a Category for the sub group (the subgroup will be created with a different category (nature) from the one used by the group). See Define Natures for more information.

  5. Enter the Name of the subgroup and Date of subgroup creation.

  6. In the Reference Period field, select a consolidation period to use as reference to create the sub group.

  7. In the Copy group box, select an option:

    • Bundles - copies the bundle data of all selected companies in the subgroup to the new environment.

    • Adjustments - selecting this option requires that you select a journal view. When selected, the drop-down list below is activated for you to select a journal view. All the adjustments included in the selected journal view will be copied into the new environment.

  8. Click to create the subgroup.
