Analytical dimensions

The Dimensions page allows you to create analytical dimensions. Dimensions are used to categorize data values, and by default, Financial Consolidation includes some dimensions including: chart of accounts, chart of flows, periods, companies, partner companies, journal types, etc.

In addition to these dimensions, users can create additional analytical dimensions to provide detailed figure breakdown to analyze data and produce segmental information and reports. For example, if you want to analyze all P&L accounts by cost centre or all your financing contracts by due date, you can use dimensions. Unlike traditional grouping methods where a company belongs to only one segment, the dimensional perspective allows a company to be associated with multiple segments.

Note:  To allow the use of dimensions on a selected account, Account dimensions must be selected as an Additional Parameter on the Chart of Accounts page.

To access the Dimensions page, click Configuration > Analytical Dimensions > Dimensions.

Creating an analytical dimension involves doing the following in three separate steps:

  1. The dimension trees (architecture of the dimension).

  2. The dimension /companies relationship (link companies to dimensions).

  3. The dimension group (link accounts to dimensions).
