Currency exchange rates and reports

In the Chart of Accounts, every account is set up to use a specific rate individually, on an account-by-account basis. When the consolidation process runs, the application examines each account’s configuration and selects the appropriate currency rate based on the company’s currency and the period’s currency.

To access, go to Group > Exchange Rates > Exchange Rates tab.

Enter a currency exchange rate

The Exchange Rates tab is used to manually enter currency exchange rates for a consolidation period. These rates convert values from one currency to another in a selected period and are applied during translation and consolidation. Currency rates can also be imported using the Import Exchange Rates page.

The currency table has the following columns:

Column Description

Currency code

The currency code. Only active currencies appear in this list.

Current Period — Close, Average, Month

The Close, Average, and Month rates for the current consolidation period.

Reference Period — Close, Average, Month

The Close, Average, and Month rates for the reference consolidation period.

 

Modified by

The name of the person who last modified the data.

Modified

The date and time the data was last modified.

To add currency exchange rates:

  1. Enter the required information in these fields:

    • Period Code — Select the consolidation period whose currency rate you want to enter or change.

    • Base Currency — Select the base currency (the reference currency for the exchange rate).

     Note:  The Reference Period field is read-only and shows the reference period for the selected consolidation period, if one is assigned.

  2. In the See all lines drop-down, optionally filter the currency list to show only lines with or without amounts.

  3. Locate the desired currency and enter the Close, Average, and Month currency rates.

     Note:  You must enter all three currency rates. Ensure that you use the correct decimal symbol according to the local or regional settings of your machine.

  4. Save your input.

Print currency exchange rate report

The Currencies Reports tab contains the exchange rates of the active currencies for the given period.

To access, go to Group > Exchange Rates > Currencies Reports tab.

To print currency exchange report:

  1. Enter the required information in these fields:

    • Report — Select the type of report you want. See Report types.

    • Select currency — Select the base currency against which all currencies on the report will be expressed.

    • In the File type field, select the output format.

  2. Click to produce the report. After the report is generated, a download link appears below for you to click and view it in the file format selected.

Report types

Report type Description

Standard

Shows the rates of all active currencies for one period compared against another (usually current versus reference), expressed against a given base currency. Includes the Close, Average, and Month rates for both consolidation periods, sorted by consolidation period.

Reporting

Shows the Close and Average rates per consolidation period and the variation between periods.

Statutory

Shows the different currencies per rate type compared across the two selected consolidation periods.

Current Period

Shows the different currencies across different rate types for the current consolidation period only.
