Account class

The Accounts X Classes page enables you to classify accounts and view and modify the content of an existing account class. An Accounts Class is a grouping of similar accounts within a Chart of Accounts. Accounts within the same class typically have similar characteristics, such as the type of transaction they represent or the nature of the asset, liability, revenue, expense, or equity that they track.

Account classes are predominantly used for flow definitions.

To access the Accounts X Classes page, click Configuration > System Structures > Accounts > Accounts X Classes.

The left-side panel displays a list of the account classes that have been defined in the Chart of Accounts.

The right-side panel displays the details accounts for a class selected in the left side panel. It is divided into two:

  • The Accounts for selected class (top) panel displays the Account Number and Account Description of the selected class.

  • The Available (bottom) panel displays the available chart of accounts, including:

    • Account Code
    • Account Description

    • Account Class

    • Account Type

Add an account to a class

  1. From the left-side panel, select an account class from the list. The accounts for the selected class are displayed in the Account for selected class panel and in the Available panel below, the list of available account types.

  2. In the Available panel, filter the list of available accounts to display only the account types you want to work with. You can filter by Account Type (Balance Sheet, P&L, Contingencies, Quantities, Other, and All) or use wildcards in the Code, Description or Class fields.
  3. Select the account code(s) you want to add to the selected account class.
  4. Click to transfer the selected account(s) to the account class.
